Acme Packet Powers Growth of VoIP Services from InPhonex
Acme Packet’s Net-Net 9200 session border controller capacity, availability and versatility to grow innovative service provider’s subscriber base by 400% or more

BURLINGTON, MA - Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that InPhonex, an Internet telephony service provider (ITSP) based in Miami, Florida, has chosen the Net-Net 9200 session border controller (SBC) to expand its subscriber base and further enhance its service offerings.

An existing Acme Packet customer, InPhonex currently services approximately two hundred thousand direct VoIP subscribers with plans to exceed one million subscribers by the end of calendar year 2009. In addition to its retail business, the ITSP markets its services through a worldwide network of more than three thousand resellers under the VARPhonex brand. InPhonex’s business and residential subscribers are able to place VoIP calls to over one hundred forty countries, choosing from a growing portfolio of fixed and variable rate service plans.

To support its recent and forecasted growth, InPhonex chose Acme Packet’s Net-Net 9200 platform, citing four primary factors:

Media capacity – The Net-Net 9200 supports up to 128,000 media sessions, which InPhonex believes will be necessary to support the incremental VoIP traffic generated as the result of the subscriber growth it is forecasting.

High availability – The Net-Net 9200 provides 100% hardware redundancy in-chassis with check-pointing of signaling, media and configuration state for no loss of service.

Security – InPhonex was particularly concerned with protecting its service infrastructure against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, which are potentially catastrophic to revenue-producing VoIP services. The Net-Net 9200 incorporates Acme Packet’s NetSAFE architecture, providing InPhonex with the necessary protection against service outages and/or loss of revenue caused by malicious or even non-malicious attacks.

Service reach maximization – The Net-Net 9200’s ability to adapt to a wide range of devices through capabilities such as transcoding, transrating and telephone number and DTMF manipulation was critical to InPhonex. They also required a platform that could provide highly scalable hosted NAT traversal along with significant amounts of signaling protocol translations and fix-ups.

VarPhonex Launches New Customization Tools For VoIP Resellers

Today, VarPhonex announced the launch of two new reseller tools, Create-a-Plan and Custom Dial Plan. These new features enhance the already powerful portfolio of reseller tools and solutions offered by VarPhonex, making them a true leader in turn-key private label VoIP solutions.

Create-a-Plan
We took a hard look at the kinds of monthly calling plans that our customers were looking for. Most of all, our customers wanted flexibility on pricing so that their margins could be improved. Custom Dial Plan
The Custom Dial Plan will allow resellers to "normalize" the dialing to their locality.  By default, the customers of our resellers must dial 011+ when making calls outside of the US and Canada and 1+ when making calls to the US and Canada.  When users are making calls through their local phone company, they don't always dial this way. The purpose of this tool is to allow resellers to edit the dialing pattern to be consistent with the way the reseller's client dials through their local telephone company.

VarPhonex lowers price on Brazil Unlimited and offers Free Linksys PAP2 Phone adaptor with US and Canada Plan

VarPhonex Introduces the VarPhonex Flash Phone
