Troubleshooting
Equipment

I have no dial tone (Sipura 2100)

Problem:

I have no dial tone

Solution:

A. Can you access the configuration screen?

If YES, Go to B

If NO,

  1. The adapter is not connected properly to the network. Make sure you connected a network cable from any of the available ports of your router or modem to the WAN port of the SPA 2100.
  2. Make sure your PC is connected to the LAN port of the SPA 2100.
  3. Check that your PC is setup for DHCP (automatic IP address configuration). In windows click on the START button, click on RUN, type CMD and press enter. This will open the command prompt window. Type ipconfig/all and press enter. Check that under the Ethernet controller section if it says DCHP enabled "yes". If it is not enabled go to your desktop and right click on My Network Places icon and select properties. Find the "local area connection" right click it and select properties. Look for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the "properties" button. Once in TCP/IP configuration, under the general tab, select "Obtain and IP address Automatically". This will allow your PC to obtain the IP address configuration from the SPA 2100.
  4. Determine the SPA's IP address and enter it in your web browser. In windows click on the START button, click on RUN, type CMD and press enter. This will open the command prompt window. Type ipconfig/all and press enter. The SPA's IP will be the one under "Default Gateway". Enter that IP address in you web browser and you will get access to the configuration screen.

B. Is the sip adapter registered in our Sip Proxy?

If YES,

  1. Check the telephone cable and the phone connected to the SPA 2100.
  2. Make sure you are connecting the phone to the port where the VN is configured.

If NO,

  1. Check that the network cable from your router/modem is properly connected to the WAN port of the SPA2100.
  2. Determine if your router/modem is assigning IP address automatically to the SPA 2100 a) If the router that is connected to the WAN port of the SPA 2100 is assigning IP addresses automatically, make sure the CONNECTION TYPE under the WAN SETUP tab is set to DHCP. b) If the router that is connected to the WAN port of the SPA 2100 not assigning IP addresses automatically, then make sure the CONNECTION TYPE under the WAN SETUP tan is set to Static IP and enter the IP configuration under that section.
  3. Make sure your SPA has internet connection. After checking that you have the correct IP address configuration in point 2, connect your PC to the LAN port of your SPA 2100 and try to browse the internet. If for some reason you con not browse the internet, check with your ISP that you have the right IP configuration information.
  4. If this is a new installation, make sure you have the correct user and password.
  5. To make sure you have the right configuration under the VOICE tab, please refer to the following link: http://www.inphonex.com/support/sipura-spa2100-configuration.php
  6. Do you have any other sip adapter of softphone in the same network using ports 5060 or 5061?. Please keep in mind that you can not have two devices on the same network using the same port since they block each other.
  7. Manually configure a static IP, gateway and DNS. You may need to contact your ISP for the DNS.
